I think the new t shirt in the club shop might make the Afghan opiate producers feel their culture is being appropriated.

Are you saying that if a team formed calling themselves the Shanghai Shed-Heads you'd get the raving hump due to some weird woke cult concept of "cultural appropriation"?

One of these things is not like the other.

I'm sure you'll articulate the unlikeness to illuminate your claim. Cheers

Excellent article. Thanks for posting the link, Coleser.

In all these disputes, we should all try to stand in the shoes of those who feel aggrieved to understand what things feel like from THEIR standpoint and why they are aggrieved. Sadly, many hide behind the "PC gone mad" or "woke" slogans rather than trying to learn why we might have to consider our stance.

I am a 70 year old, white male and the only discrimination or "'ism" I have suffered is what I get now - ageism. Otherwise, I have gone through my life unaffected by bias against me based on my gender, religion, ethic origin or sexual orientation.

I have witnessed discrimination, both conscious and unconscious, all the time, whether it be not interviewing non-white candidates for jobs, not even considering women for promotion over men even when they were the best candidate, rejecting applications because of religious beliefs. All this has happened since we had enacted laws that prohibit such discrimination but ways have been found to perpetuate prejudices.

The Exeter Chiefs debate is a classic - they need to take a long, hard look at what their stance says about THEM.

And god help any of their supporters who tries to wear it in the Shed blocking the view of those behind them!
