Wayne Barnes #throwthebook

I've not seen this mentioned and thinks it's worth sharing.

Wayne Barnes is back on twiiter after a number of years (I assume he left when the Kiwis worked out how to use the internet ;) )

He's doing an occasional series on refereeing decisions....breaking it down to simple basics and from the referees point of view. It's looking excellent.

Here's the first one.

I'd love to agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong....

Very very good and I hope he is able to clarify some of the more mystifying interpretations we have seen recently in future vids

I've asked him for the darkest mysteries of the penalty try.....

What is the thinking that two contact injury retirements equals team needs to lose a player? It's not as if it is the team's fault...or is it that contact injury could be faked?

I thought exactly the same, CP. Seems very cynical if it is because a contact injury could be faked (especially if both props sustained compound fractures of the leg, heaven forbid). I would be interested to hear of the reasoning.

I look forward to Wayne Barnes explaining, with real game examples, how the referee gave the decisions given at the breakdown. It seems to be an area of contention in some quarters.
