But as North had signed for Saints before he was named in the 2013 Lions squad, the Lions payout to player's Clubs went to Saints, which covered their fine for releasing him to Wales outside of the international release period.

We, Glos, came to an agreement for Gareth Cooper to be released but PRL don't like that type of arrangement hence heavy fines.

PRL argue that as the RFU pay the Clubs in England for player release / access, why should English Clubs release players to other Countries outside of the international window, given their in no agreement in place to pay for such release.

So for the Wales vs NZ match, which is outside of the international window, Wales can't select LRZ, Sheedy, Biggar, Lloyd, all of which is completely separate from the self imposed 60 cap threshold, which is why Biggar can't be selected for the match but has more than 60 caps.

My mistake. Of course it was GN. Didn’t he have it in his contract that he must be released

Yep and the fine got bigger each year from memory.

4 games is more revenue than 3 games.

They very often have a game outside the window in the Autumn series, granted it's not often the big fixture!

Yes he did Wyn, it was in his contract, but PRL still fined Saints for his release. In effect PRL said there shouldn't be a release clause and Saints were at fault for agreeing to it.

Yes Jeppy, and given that the AB match has been a sell out for a long time now whereas the other 3 matches still have some availability, it seems adding the match outside of the international window is a good move where revenue generation is concerned.

Perhaps not where the result is concerned though

Agreed, it'll be another AB win I'm afraid. A quickly put together team with just a couple of weeks prep vs the AB's coming off the Championship doesn't anything other than a good AB win.

2004 was the last time Wales really threatened the AB's. McCaw's first match as skipper but he as outplayed by Charvis. A Rockocoko Try, following a blocking move that would now be a penalty against the AB's and a mix up between Gareth Thomas and Spreadbury over time keeping saw the AB's win by 1.

Not a rumour, perhaps worth a thread of his own - Louis Picamoles to retire. 82 caps, a really good number 8.

Also not a rumour (nothing on here is now, though)

Hallam Amos to retire at 27, not because of injury but to pursue his medical studies.

Well flagged up plod, what a player. You are being underwhelming with the ‘really good’ description too.
