'Big Announcement'

Another load of marketing exaggeration. The best plan is to wait for the actual announcement than get ahead of ourselves at the announcement of the announcement.

Great news, IMO.
I think most of us have no idea what constitutes a significant increase in sponsorship, but I am very willing to believe it will provide stability financially for the medium term, and will allow investment in various areas which we all wish to see - new pitch, new players, retention of existing players and so on.
We all have expectations for this great rugby club but we should manage them realistically. Rather like the comments after the Queens game, don't let this forum become a magnet for the naysayers.
By the way, Leb - welcome back, and I endorse your comments about the club "trumpeting" its community work.

All the people saying they'd have preferred this to be a big name signing do realise that the fact that Mitsubishi have extended their sponsorship and are investing more money makes it more likely we will be able to make big name signings in the the future? Hence, making a bit of fuss.

Literally nothing about this is amateur.

The club was quite clear that this wasn't a huge announcement, there was no "Good Morning" tweet

This is good news, undoubtedly but we are the recipients of so much spin from the club that a little scepticism is inevitable.

It's a bit like being an ordinary Muscovite in the 1960s. You're living in your shabby little apartment, with its plywood furniture, cardboard filling the gaps in the window frames, listening to the noises through the paper thin walls of your neighbours screwing and fighting . For supper there's half a stale loaf in the bread-bin, some industrial-smelling cooking oil and half a cabbage.

As long as you can remember, through the crackly wireless state radio has been trumpeting news of the 25% increase in tractor production in Minsk, the groaning wheat silos in the Caucuses and the first new model of the Moskvich to roll off the production line. Then you hear a piece of genuine news. You get on the filthy subway and make your way to Red Square to wave your little red flag, handed to you by one of the party apparatchiks. You cheer dutifully, but genuinely, as Gagarin, the first human to orbit the Earth, trundles past. Then as dusk falls and the east wind picks up you return to your cold apartment, the celebratory mood long past, and take down your favourite cookery book from the shelf, "101 Things to Make with Cabbage".

(*Meanwhile, in New York, queues are starting to form outside record shops to buy the latest Elvis hit from Blue Hawaii.)

Oh come on OG, surely you are not suggesting that news is fed to us, or that dossier's are tampered with to make an argument look better ? ;)

The academy boys cleaning up after sh!tter, Charlie's testimonial fiasco, the club being confident Fearns was going to fulfil his contract, jubilation at winning the Sevens plate "silverware", Greene King , "Festival of Real Ale" at every game etc, etc. A bit of pravda is long overdue in my view.

Really good news and worthy of a "big announcement". Also exactly what Mitsubishi would demand.

Those who can't understand this will, quite frankly, never get a lot of life's machinations.............. "Gloucester born and Gloucester bred, Thick in the arm and thick in the 'ead"

Yet another example of why a very small band of "thick" GRFC supporters and web-site contributors are ridiculed by the wider game and stain the majority with a similar tag.
Nothing wrong with free speech or having an opinion - as long as it matches mine !!
