Olivier Azam

I have been asked who I consider to be legends at Gloucester. Teague stands out as a genuine hard man who proved world class. I also admired Deacon who not reaching the same heights was a tremendous servant of the club and punched above his weight (metaphorically speaking). In the backs it must be Sinbad. Much has been made of his attacking ability but the way he could cover ground in making try saving tackles was extraordinary. These are the kind of role models I champion and not the likes of Azam. The way some have tried to defend his indiscretions represent the worse of a 'one eyed view' which springs to the defence of Gloucester regardless of the facts.

A trick question, but what do you think of somebody like Brian O'Driscoll, StroudWizard?

World class or just like Azam ?

I would say John Gadd & JSD as my Gloucester legends.
Both stayed loyal to the club when better offers came in.
Teague one of the best players I’ve had the privilege to watch, Ian Jones another.

Huget goes down feigning injury - that’s terrible, no place on a rugby pitch etc. Azam goes down feigning injury - ah that's amusing.

Don’t understand all the hype about Azam. Apart from his “indiscretions” he must have been the worst line out thrower ever at CG. How Alex Briwn consistently tipped the line out stats I shall never know - perhaps it was from opposition throws!

... and over the years he's had some pretty stiff opposition !

Azam had his shortcomings but was a huge character, always seemed to give his all, played with passion and often provided the aggresion that all sides need (like it or not). Legend might be pushing it a bit but a player that added to teams he played for and one that wont be forgotten.
The only problem with doing nothing is not knowing when you have finished.
