I think the pitch will also help his game.

For those who are down with the youth there is a video on the club instagram page with Evans looking fully fit and sharp during pre-season training. Encouraging signs!

Could we see a transformation like Tom Young’s from center to hooker? Probably not, but I don’t think the leap from back row to a big ball carrying center would be impossible for Gareth.

He has all the skills, we really have a lot of back row options.

At least 9 plus any I’ve missed, with lots of combinations.

Ludlow, Safe, Polledri, Ackerman, Clarke (very underrated), Kriel, Morgan, Mostert (genuine option), Evans.

He's looking good and that clip just serves to remind us of his unique skills. If he can stay fit, think he will have a big part to play in our future!

People forget the try he set up for Braley against Saracens, including brushing off Billy V like he was an annoying fly. He's one hell of a player and Johan will have seen enough of him to know where he fits in. A big man who can play at pace and with vision is exactly what Ackermann is after.

Probably an odd idea but could he play in the centres similar to Banahan, he would be a bish bosh centre but bigger than usual.

As I've said before I would like to see Gareth Evans given a go at openside. With our new pitch, his pace and skills set, he could be an excellent link man.

I hope that he can stay fit for an extended period.

Remembering unlikely centres, what about Junior Paramore
The only problem with doing nothing is not knowing when you have finished.
