The last Burns thread

Very interesting to see that Billy asked to be released from his contract to pursue an international career playing for Ireland..... "he asked to be released from the final year of his contract with the Club to join Ulster and make himself available for selection for Ireland and a place in the 2019 Rugby World Cup squad".

Whilst I understand why we have let him go, I think we will miss him, especially if there is an injury and at International times.

Maybe the Bert rumour to Glos is true? ;)

So maybe not the last Burns thread.

Good luck to Bill. I liked him as a player.

Interesting to see how he is Irish qualified?

Seeing as Fred played for England. Is he getting past Sexton and Carbery though? Even Madigan.

Good luck to him

Fair play to the guy but I can't quite see it happening somehow. Good luck to him I say.

Surprised, but not shocked. Cips & Owen W are interchangeable 10-12 axis and could be exceptionable.

Good luck Billy for the future

Can anyone explain how he's qualified to play for Ireland?

BBC article says it's via a paternal grandparent

Good luck to him and thank you. Didn't quite cut if for me but played with great heart and would have been happy with him as back up to Cipriani with Williams at 12. Equally happy with Williams, Evans and 12trees (if necessary) as cover and hopefully some money for (my choice) a flying, stepping winger rather than a centre.

Didn’t see that coming, I hope we reinvest in the squad of possible.

Seems a strange decision from him though, you’d of thought he’d back himself to compete especially with Cipriani likely to be in the England squad.

I think playing for Ireland is a tad unrealistic though.
