Ricoh DoR of the Season

Ackers nominated, but doesn't it seem rather disrespectful to David Humphreys?

Lots of discussion here OG.

However, I agree. It does seem strange.

it's not so much disrespectful as poorly named. It is clearly an award for the whoever is directly responsible for training the first team but with different clubs having different structures then it is a bit confusing.

Does seem odd, but at other clubs the DOR gets heavily involved in tactics and coaching. From what i understand although DH is obviously there week in week out when were are playing, the coaching and style of play is almost completely down to JA.

DH give JA the space to get the most out of the players. This also explains why he's the one talking to the press after the games most weeks.

At other clubs this isn't the case and the DOR is heavily involved in the the coaching and the way they play.

Pat Lam: Head Coach. No DOR
Johan Akermann: Head Coach. DH is DOR.
Rob Baxter: DOR. Ali Hepher is Head Coach.
Chris Boyd: DOR. No Head Coach.
Mark McCall: DOR. No Head Coach.

Why? Dumped out of Europe early, could get overtaken to only finish 2nd in the League and haven't won the play-off yet. Where as Sarries made the Prem Cup Final, Won the A League and the Champions Cup.

Don't agree. Exeter have, at best, stagnated or even gone backwards from last season. I think Baxter is not even in the top three this season, much as I admire what he has achieved over the years.

The top three for me are:

Ackermann
Lam
Boyd

then McCall and Baxter

After the Champions cup win it’s hard to ignore McCall. I’m not sure how Exeter have gone backwards, they secured a home semi with 5 games to go.

Of course being biased I’d vote Ackermann.

I'd also look to Lam or Ackermann. Its business as usual at Sarries and Exeter but both Gloucester and Bristol have had seasons where you could argue they exceeded expectations.

Plus I am biased as bleep I'd go for Johan!
