Absolutely stunning cover of the original.
Agreed
+1 . Probably the best cover ever recorded.
Pretty strong view there, Cov.

There have been lots of great covers - Marvin's 'Heard it Through the Grapevine' and Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah' for instance.
Oh and have you ever listened to Mike Flowers doing 'Wonderwall'?

if we are talking brilliant covers....can I suggest that John Martyn's version of Somewhere over the Rainbow (ideally live) has to be pretty high up the list of greats.......

...and June Tabor & the Oyster Band's cover of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'...mind you, Nouvelle Vague's version is pretty good too!

The Disturbed cover of SoS is OK at best, but for me it's too overblown and lacks the subtle power of the original. Agree that the June Tabor/Oysterband version of LWTUA is a cracking cover of a superb original. So I'll start off my selections with another great cover version.

Dusty Springfield - Goin' Back
Powderfinger - These Days
Jackson C Frank - Blues Run the Game
Small Faces - Afterglow of your love
Go Betweens - Quiet Heart
Kinks - Shangri-la
Waterboys - Fisherman's Blues
Future Loop Foundation - A Very English Summer
