Glouc win toss and bowl versus Som, continuing the trend of Glouc fielding first in all games this season...

Apologies Lovejoy.

No worries, I should have quoted. Also doing it off the top of my head so there could be others.

Forecast looks dismal for Briz today. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any play and Sunday isn't much better. No chance of a result IMHO.
Interesting that we won the toss and fielded - again.
When I were a lad (which was obviously a long time ago) you won the toss and it was almost compulsory to bat, regardless of conditions, state of the pitch etc.

My sons play in a juniors league (6pm start) U12 and U15. 16/20 overs type thing. We were always told to chase a total but they are told to bat first as the failing light makes it more difficult to bat.

The W.G.Grace Approach... "When you win the toss - bat. If you are in doubt, think about it, then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague. Then bat."

Yes, it usually works the other way round in limited overs cricket where teams usually prefer to chase. The only recent team to really buck this trend is the WC winning England team who made a habit of batting first and setting ridiculous targets as a way to seize the initiative.

Many thanks. Rain up here in Northants so I've retreated from digging the vegetable patch

Bit of a collapse for Zummerzet 143-6.

Somerset up to 300-8 now. Presumably both sides forfeit an innings and try to get a result (can't see it with tomorrow's forecast) or do we just try to get some batting bonus points?
Hants and Leics drew, Surrey in the boss seat against Middlesex (but draw still looks likely when weather is factored in).
