RWC19 "Stuff"
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
Saving that up have you Smirnoff, I forgot to post it yesterday, apologies.
SA were well deserved winners, England failed to turn up. Roll on RWC2023 in France!

I think the decision to take Piers Francis instead of Cipriani was utterly daft, nobody can know whether he would have made a difference but surely it was worth finding out?
I think Morgan would have been a better option at 8, especially against the Boks, where bosh was never going to win out
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
We were just beaten by the better team on the day, no disgrace in that scrum was a mess and youngs, Daly were poor today but the game turned on not getting the try when we had 25 phases on their line, gave SA huge boost. Well done SA and also to England especially last wk.
Now back to the really important game today
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
I loved the SA style of rugby - proper old-school stuff. Now it's up to the others to find a way to counter that - a welcome antidote to the current obsession with running, 'entertaining' rugby!
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
A great performance by South Africa, and in they were utterly dominant. They battered England up front, and in truth England can have no real complaints. I thought Daly and Youngs were poor today, today was also tough match for Cole who has been a great servant to England but wasn't strong enough. That front 5 for south Africa and Vermeulen were absolute monsters
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Gutted, were the best on the day. Great World Cup and a good performance all round for England.
But more importantly, come on Glaws, if we can win the prem of European cup. For me, that fair eclipses a RWC win.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Congratulations to South Africa on a world cup win.
Thought it was a good game to watch to see if and how England were going to counter the SA strength. Unfortunately I think they chose to go toe to toe up front and lost that battle. Next to no input from the wingers or back line as they did not feel confident enough to distribute the ball I feel.
This will make the Lions tour even more special now looking forward.

Very difficult to "distribute the ball" when you don't have it and are on the back foot for most of the match. I certainly didn't expect SA to play champagne rugby, I suspect Eddie and his staff didn't either.
No complaints, we couldn't cope with the power and were well beaten.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
It wasn't about so-called champagne rugby. It was about executing the basics without error...sadly they couldn't manage it today. Onwards and upwards...let's lift a grand slam this next year.

I agree that the country and fans probably did, but not sure I saw that from the England camp.
What I did see were some mentally and physically tired bodies out there and we only saw sadly glimpses of the fizz and energy of last weekend.
I think that was mostly down to the great SA performance, but I wonder if switching a few of the starters/finishers around may have helped balance the first half a bit. This is so easy with hindsight!
