I thought Willi had a good game today in an England side which improved on their last game. He isn't a flash player, but his defence, and speed and accuracy of his passing were good and, as Monye and Sir Clive said, his kicking was very good, on the whole. Youngs is a slightly different player and is more willing to snipe round the fringes (not that Willi isn't) and probably has more gas. Ford improves every match and is looking more and more assured. Excellent performances from Curry and Ludlam in particular, and others. Going in the right direction and clearly more to come. Fabulous run from Genge!

You got there just before me. In view of your analysis I would start with Heinz as his passing is better, and have Youngs on if/when the game opens up a bit more.

Interestingly, in 1985, only France, NZ, Australia and S.Africa voted for a World Cup. Ireland and Scotland voted against with England and Wakex unable to make decision.

Yes, but in 1985 the amatuer ethos was held high by some Unions, but not so by others.

True and I recommend reading "Unholy Union-When rugby collided with the Modern World". Excellent so far.

Don't worry about the pundits, EJ is his own man and he is very happy with what Willi brings to the squad.
Not sure I get The Bath winger mind, he looked a rabbit in the headlights and I doubt he will see another minutes playing time in the tournament.
All in all I think England are building nicely into the tournament.

Totally agree about Cokanasiga, absolutely below par performance and missed his opportunity to impress.

They don’t like it up ‘em.

Oh dear, I agree with madders! He looked very ordinary, clumsy and indecisive. The chance where he slid on the ground looked as if it was a fairly simple one. He reminds me of the Northampton wing of similar build - the fans get excited when they have the ball but very nervous when they have to defend.

Incidentally, how on earth did Farrell get away without a HIA?

Good question Plod - he did stay down, before deciding to exact revenge. There is some irony given his previous tackling style.

Onto the next match for Wales, vs Aus on Sunday am - looks as though Wales are taking it lightly in training:

&, let's hope the Aussies now know about the tackle laws !
