In the recent video about the Bears' new training ground, the owner highlighted the attraction of world class facilities to players like Radrada and Sinckler. Let's be optimistic and say we're treading water at the moment in that regard.

Given our large SA contingent and head coach, if we can't attract a player like Koch, in a position we are desperately short of quality in after Balmain, things are not looking too rosey.

I’m happy clappy, but all of that is hard to argue with. Massively disappointing that we lost out on both Sinckler and now Koch. As you say, it’s a position we’re desperately short of top class premiership quality in.

Hang on, let's not get carried away. There must be a whole host of factors the players consider with the £££ being one of the most important. He's gone to Sale who are riding high now, but let's face it, they don't have a league position record much better than our own.
And then you link to Bear's new training. Koch isn't going to Sale for the Bristol facility! Still he's coming from Sarries, so he's at least used to playing in a soul-less stadium.

I have no idea if DH & JA genuinely tried to recruit him. I did hear Lance Bradley state several weeks ago now (at time of initial fall out) that Sarries & their players were in cloud cuckoo land (or words to that affect) with their opening salary demands.

Nor could we apparently sway Harry Williams...

Perhaps Koch is claustrophobic and has got used to playing in big empty stadia. :o

Some light shed on why Ashton left Sale....Steve Diamond commented...'There is no situation, just a disagreement on how we want to play the game. He wants to do it one way, I want to do it another and that's it, so end of story.'

I'm quite a fan of a strong head coach!

In Diamond's case they're one and the same!

Maybe he is being over cautious and self isolating!

I guess it depends on how long a view you take to look at things, as they did win the league in 2006, something which we've failed to do, and they had a great team back then, Chabal was immense at the time., as was Richard Wigglesworth !

Also just read Koch is big mates with Faf de Klerk, so maybe that helped him decide.

The reference to the Bears was because Sinkler was mentioned, another quality TH we didn't sign.

Can everyone relax. We might have signed Pieter-Steph du Toit and Malherbe yet.
