Thorley and LRZ have both recently recently signed long term contracts. Woodward also won’t be going anywhere and is crucial. Hopefully him and Heinz both back for Worcester. May would be a HUGE upgrade on Banahan or Sharples. Neither of which, for various reasons plays a lot. Believe I’ve heard year 3 of Banahan deal is vastly reduced wage wise should he stay.

Also I am sure May could fill in very nicely at FB if needed. Plus I think Banner’s on a huge contract, although not sure when that expires

How does any of this help our underperforming pack.

As brilliant as JM would be, I'm hoping he's the exciting news with the very exciting news to follow

I would love to have May back but I am struggling with the strategy if true. It would see one of LRZ, Thorley, Marshall or Woodward ommitted from the starting lineup (at full strength), which just seems odd. They're all good enough to start for most clubs and there's already 4 of them for 3 spots. We appear to be crying out for some more depth in the front row? I look forward to this weeks developments...

Woodward has never shown the form he had when he was at Bristol, just saying.

I would take a middle of the road view between you both on this.

1) Woodward has shown moments of brilliance at Gloucester Rugby ; and has reportedly attracted the watchful eye of ED.

2) His signing was a logical move ; but with TM there was always in my mind the question of who and where ?. Winger and 15 are often inter-changeable in the modern era; but I think we miss an "all and all out" 15.

I wonder how both players feel about their own positioning. We have been blighted at 15 by injuries for several seasons now and the position has ( apart arguably from quite a long spell from Cookie before his injury ) been a story of change and players with long absence from injury.

I don't think he has had a long enough run in the side. Not anyone's fault. Just the fate of "15 syndrome" at CG.

Will he stay ?.and, on the balance...... do we need him ?.

What we do need is a 10 or 15 who have an 80 % kicking ability, and some pace and ability to run direct tactics that others follow and understand. A good defensive capability would be a bonus.

Sounding like a job description ?. Maybe ...but IMO it's essential - and should be a priority !!.

That ( if someone follows that line of thought in the club ) might be the deciding factor whether he stays or not.

So ; these things will focus on budget and priority. Does he have the ability as a utility 15/winger. For sure he does. Do we need him ?.

My thoughts ( on what is a very talented rugby player - no doubts ) are no.
