Jacko, i believe grobbler was signed a year before ackermann but didnt join until the following season.
Re being ‘ackermann’s man’ i would suggest the evidence suggests otherwise. And ive certainly heard a few things to the contrary.

Steckers, what information do you have that suggests there is a rift between the two, other than common conjecture on here?
Assuming that, for reasons of protecting a source, you won't state what you've heard, given that Grobler was announced in May 2018 at the end of Johan's first season I would still suggest that he is a signing Ackermann would have signed off. Grobler was at Munster for the 2017/2018 season and discussing a 3 year deal/extension until the IRFU pulled out which then culminated in him signing for us at the end of that season - all of this is in the published media.
For whatever reason he doesn't seem to be in royal favour, but he was an Ackerman signing. Unless David Humphreys brought him in and failed to communicate with another member of his staff.... (firmly tongue in cheek!)
