Rumours
Re: Rumours
Unfortunately and yet again, Exciting news from our management isn't really exciting:
1. A young prop with potential, we already have those, let go by both Baxter & Cockers, who both know a fair bit about Forwards. We need experienced Front Rowers.
2. An ex Melbourne Rebel not picked up by a Prem side who's highlights reel looks good, but then they do, who's not the breakdown Jackal we actually need. I watch Super Rugby regularly and imho, he didn't really stand out.
3. The most reprehensible one for me: A hooker that belongs to a cheating Club and Glos, along with others, whilst baying for blood, are in fact helping them out instead of hanging them out to dry. He signed a 3 year contract when moving from Worcester and I quote: "It's a homecoming for me," said 22-year-old Singleton. "It's the club I supported from a young age and used to watch regularly." I'm not sure his heart will be in it and in the meantime, our own young hookers will be kicking their heels. A crass and ill-judged call. Integrity in the game is out of the window. Saracens will be laughing all the way to their next HC, knowing the rest of the Prem were suckered into helping them out.
4. Unless we announce the signing of the Barrett brothers on 5 year deals, I can't see how management can go from duff news to Exciting news.
5. Alex Brown's cringeworthy vid on new improvements:
A. Cashless? We already had swipe station, so nothing new there.
B: Bar Staff training: Really? They should already be trained before being put in front of the Horde.
C: PA System: Ours is fairly new and it was supposed to be state of the Art then.
Tbf, I'm a bit disillusioned at the moment, not helped by the horror show debacle at the Ricoh last weekend. We seem to be a bit leaderless / rudderless both on and off the Field at the moment. Yes we may have flattered to deceive last season and yes, it's always a roller-coaster ride following Glos, BUT lately we tend to be climbing the highest mountain despite the pitfalls & then promptly jumping off with no parachute.
NOTE: Yes Chris Harris was signed as a Loan player from Newcastle but the weren't serial cheats.

Spot on. If I'm meant to be 'very excited' about recent developments, then I hope GR never make an announcement about 'managing expectations'. I'm hoping for some news this week.... fingers crossed.
Re: Rumours
Well if Singleton shows up and his hearts not in it then guess what. He's not getting selected. And if our young players like Walker can't get themselves selected ahead of a player who's heart isn't in it that would probably tell you all you need to know about whether they will cut it at this level.
Whatever people's opinions on the rights and wrongs of signing him he's still a professional rugby player and there is no reason to assume that he isn't going to give it 100% when here. Presumably he still has international ambitions which require him to be playing at his best week in week out and if he doesn't manage to get himself into contention at Gloucester then it's hardly likely to impress the Saracens coaches who will have the most impact on his long term playing career.
Personally I have no issue with the signing and look forward to seeing him in Cherry and White next season.

Spot On!
Managing expectations and spin... the story of GRFC.
Re: Rumours
Totally agree with your DieTrying…..I raised it on a different thread but I think the departure of Stephen Vaughn has definitely had an effect on the club.....I hope Lance and the top brass can get a grip of it all and get us back on track asap!
