Rumours

Thanks Beddis. I know his family are devastated. He grew up with a close relative who is 81; and whose has battled with cancer for three months ; and having got through chemotherapy, is naturally scared with the current situation. I spoke to him earlier; and offered condolences as they were life -long friends.
It is "crazy" times and puts everything in total perspective.

It is Chalker; and thank you . I didn't know him in person as such, having met him once many years ago.
It makes the reality of what we are all potentially facing so close to home.
I hope we can get a well-coordinated strategy on this soon and not a random one that is left to chance. Politics need to disappear in deference to pragmatism . Looking after our own and those most vulnerable must come before profit; the economy and political "ego's". This is a time for everyone to pull together and it should not be about about budgets . We all pay a lot of tax and we need it directed wisely.
Re: Rumours
Well said indeed - we all need to pull together at this time, and that especially includes our politicians! So sorry to hear this desperately sad news for your friend's family.
Re: Rumours
This is getting stupid now. There is enough human mystery around without it being publicised on here. It’s a rugby site and some people do come on here to be cheered up ( despite our season) and although any death even a friend of a friend is sad, does the bereavement process need to be aired on here? I’m guessing that nearly every poster has had sad experiences and in this time will continue to do so. Like others on here I am in the age group mentioned as being vulnerable but you have to get on with it. Somethings need keeping to yourselves. Joke on please, keeping a sense of humour might just be helping someone?

We are doomed I tell ye. The gods are taking vengeance for .......... ( complete the sentence to be put into the draw to win a season ticket to watch Gloucester in 2025). I agree with Baz - all of us over a certain age are living with our own uncertainties, worries, fears and challenges. Let’s try to keep morale high - this virus thing will be around for most of 2020 by the look of it . Solidarity comrades

Re: Rumours
T'internet tells me that c.13,000 people in the UK died of 'flu related illnesses in 2008-9. The vast majority were very elderly, and/or had what we now refer to as underlying health issues. Every one of them had a story to tell, and of course, it was devastating for their family and friends. However, I'm afraid death is a reality that everyone has to face, and with this wretched virus I'm firmly in the 'keep calm and carry on' camp.
As for self-isolation...if you've ever had proper 'flu (not a bad cold or man 'flu) then you have no choice but to self-isolate as you basically can't get out of bed! By all accounts, for the vast majority of people this will in fact be less debilitating than 'flu. IMO the Beeb, Sky News and the government have got a lot to answer for as they are engendering panic.
