Look we saw this with Cipriani in Munster. The tackler cannot stand upright in tackle- maybe its a fly-off thing

I am now totally confused. It is now only a penalty if you make contact with the head in a tackle. The DC red card set a precedent which has been abandoned. Adams’ tackle was far worse than the aforementioned. The pundits in the studio seem to be saying that it’s ok as long as the hit isn’t “too hard"

Went to a q&a with Ackermann in the week, he said the club got an email apologising for the DC red and conceded it shouldve been yellow.

Well that makes a big difference! That decision ruined my weekend in Limerick.

I think the precedent has largely been abandoned because it was a ludicrous one and a ludicrous decision. It seems to me World Rugby recognises that and referees are allowed to either use common sense or stick slavishly to the rules and either can be justified!!! Of course the sensible solution would be for World Rugby to re-evaluate and replace with directives based on both player welfare and common sense. That’s not going to happen though is it?
