Of course the sensible solution would be for World Rugby to re-evaluate and replace with directives based on both player welfare and common sense. That’s not going to happen though is it?

Totally agree. World Rugby have only looked at one side of the tackle equation.
They don't like tacklers using their shoulders, but don't seem to mind ball carriers leading into a tackle with their shoulders. Can't see the difference, myself. Navidi's tackle on the Aussie ball carrier a few minutes ago, just before the Aussie penalty to take them to 25 points, is a typical example; Navidi very lucky to avoid injury.

The result today speaks for itself. What a tremendous Welsh performance.

Great game to watch as a neutral. Wales played with more invention than we often see and the Aussi's were slow to get intot he game. The breakdown was a mess and several decisions could haave been given the other way. For me the tackles were probably about fair but the lack of consistency game to game is a worry. Wales have develloped several smart ways to play the game . They are one of the best at targeting the ball not the man in the tackle, they also are smart in getting the hooker to move late on to get his throw more down the line of his players. They outdid Oz in the rucks with hands and holding on. Both teams will have been drained by that game . The fiji game is their only concern now which they should be recovered for.

Given the amount of tight games we've ultimately lost against the Aussies, that's a satisfying win.
Ideally, we keep control of this group, and England keep control of theirs.

Great game for the neutral despite the officiating that both sides will have issues with. Both coaches will have lots to work on but Wales will be relieved not to have blown a 15 point lead. Thought Patchell was superb in place of Biggar (tackling technique aside ;) )
Excellent world cup so far

A good test match intensity game today I thought. Over the moon with the first half performance of Wales and very impressed with Australia in the second half with their direct running by their backs. I'd like to say that Wales edged it in the battle of the loose forwards, but it was close. Hats of to Patchell for keeping calm and taking his kicks, which ultimately won us the game by keeping the scoreboard ticking over.
I now will worry about the Fiji game as I have a feeling Gatland will change the team to a point where we will loose continuity and possibly lose the match, but at the moment, I am a happy bunny.
Let's hope the Jocks can get in a good performance and a win now as well.

What a great tournament, and advert for the game, so far. Would be nice to think we see a big increase in Premiership attendances post RWC however I wonder how many 'rugby flirts' are watching the group stages?

Agree CP, but you only have to look at the crowd at Twickenham for internationals to see how they attract a different audience - a lot of "eventers" and corporates, many of whom are there for the occasion, and not truly for the sport.
My belief is that rugby enthusiasts are those who roll up, week in and week out, and support their club through thick and thin.
If the Kingsholm crowd was to grow by 10% because of this RWC, that would be a positive outcome for me....but did it grow after we had RWC games in our fair city last time... ?

Can't be bothered to look back at whoever (Welsh probably :D ) had a go at Poite: I thought he refereed the game pretty well.
