Those that were convinced that England wouldn’t get out the group have been quiet!

After games 1 and 2, I revised my prediction to 'might' get out of the group. We are now at the sharp end of the group and if we play scrappy ball like games 1, 2 & 3 against the French we will go under. Make no mistake, the frogs will smell fear/blood and put us to the sword. If we get passed the quarters ANY failings will kill us. Hopefully Faz's foot has had its' howler for the tournament and he can kick on (sic).......

I understand your point but I actually think England would quite like the rest of their games to be scrappy affairs. We have looked great against the weaker teams because I think we like it to be an arm wrestle. Forward dominance is our key. Obviously we do need to cut out the simple knock ons but I dont think we will play a very expansive game unless we are a long way down in a game.

When you play against teams that are very physical and show little else, games tend to develop like that. The France game and potential game in the QF against the Aussies will be totally different and we will adjust accordingly.......I hope ;)

Well as we put 40+ points on both France and Australia in last game we played against them then more than capable.
No need for england to go overly expansive today. Progressing very nicely

England don't need any more bonus point wins, they simply need to win now. It's just a question of working out the best way to do that, the key will be if they can start adapting during matches, which was beyond them in the Six Nations.

I can see us getting to the SF reasonably well now. Then it's a one off match for the final

The biggest problem England will have is complacency...and letting the forwards dictate the game plan options instead of letting loose what is one of the best set of backs in the world.

Cmon the cherry blossoms....

...and they secure the bonus point.

That's going to make the Japan v Scotland game very tasty.

Japan have the whole week to recover and prepare for Scotland, who play Russia on Wednesday. That could be crucial.

So you have knowledge of the existence of a plan B, then....?

I suspect England would rather play Wales anyway - so next game is a bit of a dead rubber. It's also reported that France have openly expressed a preference for playing Wales. So maybe no-one will want to win their game.

Would rather England be battle-hardened by playing Argentina and France late in their group than be like NZ and SA where their only competitive game in the group was the 1st one.

Argentina defended very well all game especially considering they were down to 14 for so long. Farrell was definately shaken up by the head collision and I would have liked the doctor to have given him a proper HIA even if Farrell said he was fine. Looked awful.

Cant complain too much with how England have gotten on so far, not massively impressed with anything, but gotten the job done when it mattered
