Gloucester Mute wrote:I have read from afar so much SW England-doomster clap-trap re. RWC19. It started with those bemoaning DC's (rightful) exclusion from the 31-man squad and moved onto many forecasting (aka willing) how England wouldn't make the QF's because of EJ's ineptitude allied to mis-selections and zero game-plan. During the 3 games England have played very, very few have focussed on the positives (3 TBP's, solid defence and lack of injuries) and instead nit-picked about humidity-effected handling, BY's performances v "our" WH, OF's kicking when bashed and Daly's "woeful" inexperience @ 15.

Now England have qualified with all looking pretty well-set the doomsters are picking-up on 1) misdirected player-leadership 2) BV's potential injury 3) chance that a QF/SF/F will be lost. No doubt if the latter happens then the doomsters will be out in force.

Quite frankly it's pathetic IMHO.

If you're not English - fair enough. Have a dig at England and big-up your country of origin. My observation is that Ireland/Scotland/Wales would readily swap places with the deeper SiD England squad and set-piece + speed out wide.

If you only care about GRFC then continue to blindly wax lyrical about Messrs Harris, Braley, Polledri, Mostert + ex-GRFC players - they appear to be the only ones you myopically notice. And shut up criticising England.

If you are English then either support your national team or shut up.

Otherwise you are simply making fools of ourselves - and indirectly all Gloucester supporters. You are portraying yourselves/us as blinkered, ignorant and disloyal to our country. Not big and not clever.

Welcome back Mutey :D

Whenever you are asked, ‘Do you want a piece of advice?’ it is a mere formality. It doesn’t matter if you answer yes or no. You’re going to get it anyway.

So far England have beaten Tonga, USA and 14 man Argentina, I would hang fire on the street party for now.

They don’t like it up ‘em.

Getting the hang of this..

Without doubt the biggest pile of poo that ive ever read on sw :D . Some feat.

Fwiw - my post wasnt criticising anyone. I didnt particularly think anyone else was either.

Perhaps someone needs to look in the mirror about being myopic.

^This.... So far we have not been tested, a 14 man Argie side gave us some worries - what would a 15 man side have done. I think a BP win would not have happened. I'm not talking down England, just being aware of our shortcomings. Any of the first 3 games was a potential banana skin, lets see which French side turns up and how we deal with it. Thereafter it's a free for all. I can see England getting a good win against both Wales and the Ozzies, I can also see us coming undone there. I like to think I'm hopeful but also realistic. If we win RWC I will be as happy as anyone - It's the getting there.

So far so good, but when you see how other teams backs are so fluid, Japan and NZ for starters, you wonder why our boys just do bishbashbosh.
As things look l fancy NZ v Japan final, is that even possible?

Still interested to know which of Englands star players was left at home?

Not1eyed - you are trying to bait someone into a debate about DC. It's been done to death.

And FWIW - there were lots of star players left behind. I'm sure that's true for many nations who had some tough decisions - although Eng probably have more depth than most.

I agree with a lot of what GM is trying to get across, I don't agree with a lot of what he did after winning the 6N in with an awesome win in Paris at the end. PArticularly his hanging on to the old guard for too long..Robshaw, Haskell, Care, Brown, Hartley etc.

But whether it was MItchell or commonsense that caused his epiphany I don't know but as I said at the end of the 6N we are where we are and you have to get behind them.

Heinz has been a revelation and genuinely competing with Youngs with his faster pass and better box kick...Curry and Underhill are working so hard...my only downer would be on an ageing prop but his experience counts for a lot on a tour like this.

So c'mon Hingerland...big win on Saturday and then show the Aussies what rugby is all about.

Christ almighty....

I'll make sure I pull on my St George undies, take my bull dog out for a walk, have a full English breakfast, sing God Save the Queen in front of my portrait of Liz, brew up a cup of char and no matter how we perform sing only praises for our boys in white! Heaven forbid I indirectly tarnish every GRFC fan or be seen as unpatriotic!
