RWC19 "Stuff"

Davies went I think.
Why Wales didn't get a pen try when Fiji went down in three scrums on the line in the 1st half is mystifying.
A penalty try is awarded if, in the opinion of the referee, a try would almost certainly have been scored without the penalty happening. "Certainly" is the key word. No warnings have to be given - could happen on first attempt or 5th !!
Penalty tries from a scrum-5 are very difficult to judge and come down to velocity/control/defence etc;.
To me just sounds just like the whining-Welsh we English love to hate !!!!

Thanks for the unecessary explanation of the laws. Watch the series of scrums again. And if that last bit of twaddle is aimed at me then trot on pal.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Well done to Wales in managing to scrape out a win against a very committed Fiji side who are always a joy to watch, even if it did make it an uncomfortable watch for me.
Couldn't quite understand the reason to kick the ball to the Fiji back three so many times, who were head and shoulders better than our two wingers today, though credit to Josh Adams for his try scoring contribution. If we loose Johnathan Davies from the squad, we will struggle with attacking play in the back line. Thought Patchell did well when he came on to calm the game down. Shame Fiji will not be progressing in the tournament.
Looking forward to the Welsh being in the final now after that display ![]()

I had to go and check because GM likes accuracy....
Extracted from Law 8
A penalty try is awarded between the goal posts if foul play by the opposing team prevents a probable try from being scored, or scored in a more advantageous position. A player guilty of this must be cautioned and temporarily suspended or sent off. No conversion is attempted.
Probable is different to Certain....it introduces an element of chance or uncertainty where things like judgement have to be used.
As for the Cymrophobia....speaks volumes for the author.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
For the second time in the RWC I thought Wales improved noticeably when Patchell came on. A mixed performance by many of the Welsh team but they got the job done in the end. The injuries will be a concern looking ahead to the quarters but let's see how they settle down.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Josh Adams has gone from playing for Cinderford to a World Cup hat-trick in three years. Not bad: http://bit.ly/CinderfordToRWCHatTrick

Patchell looks very very good to me. I haven’t seen loads of him but all the glowing plaudits he’s been getting are well founded. Good kicker out of hand and off the tee, tackles very well and takes the ball to the gain line to create front foot ball. All in all probably a better all-rounder than Biggar but without the experience or big game management
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Also hard to judge him properly against Biggar when he comes on at a point when the opposition are knackered
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Mail Online (spits and rinses mouth out) reporting an exclusive that England game is off.....BBC being less sensational and reporting
World Rugby will announce at 04:00 BST on Thursday where or whether the game might take place, with the category five super typhoon on course to hit the main island of Honshu some time on Saturday.
That's going to mess up my breakfast plans for Saturday...how inconsiderate.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Yes, I've seen the DM's "exclusive" report stating that the game is off, yet nobody else - even the official RWC2019 website - is saying the same yet.
Think I'll wait for a rather-more reliable source (not difficult) to confirm it, rather than going on what the Daily Fail are (possibly) making up.
