It is not reasonable that two top Nations have no meaningfull rugby outside of the WC cycle. Japan, Fiji, Oz and NZ would make a more compelling future and Wr needs to pump money in on a more equitable basis. The Japan story only shows what a bit of time and effort can produce. Shame the PI's don't get given that chance. Given that TV is where the money is I don't understand why they don't get more action.

Being sinical I would say, Japan is a rich country so it is much more likely to lead to a change. It would be good to see them keep progressing like they have though. Maybe USA most likely to be next looking at the developments in their club rugby.

Some of the nonsense of Scotland being the bad guys for taking legal advice is plain stupidity. They were never once threatened legal action, listen to the interview and get the facts right. They did what any other side would do, maybe if people stopped being so sanctimonious and objective they would see that they have done nothing wrong.

Anyways, Japan are in the QF on merit and have played fantastic. Townsend just isn't the right coach, I'm not convinced by Wilson either as our forwards lack aggression and from the warm ups against France to the match against Ireland they looked soft.

Vic, your support for Scotland does you credit but the rugby authorities in Scotland engaged with a QC to look for legal redress - as GM has posted - and you cannot refute that fact. Certainly not Scottish rugby's finest hour.

Having said that, the Scots played a full part in one of the most exciting games in the history of RWC yesterday; a game Japan thoroughly deserved to win - what a spectacle the two teams presented.

Great match performance which justified the decision to play. Perhaps the Scots should have waded through the water instead of trying to walk on it.
