RWC19 "Stuff"
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Interesting that much of the media make the Eng game out to be a sacking match i.e the coach that loses will be sacked for doing a poor job. Someone has to lose and both teams are quite able to play very well. Neither side has done much wrong this WC and both coaches seem to have picked the best 31 players available. I see no reason to sack either JUST because of the result.

Would stick with England, NZ, Wales and SA.
Just hope that a controversial/debatable red card/TMO call doesn't mar any of the QF matches.
Unfortunately the current "framework" will mean that all will be controversial / debatable.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
I think the framework has bedded-in quite well after some initial teething problems. if the ref/AR's/TMO work together as a team there will be less chance of controversy. The issue comes if one or two of the team are overly vocal and/or dismissive of the collective view.
More chance of controversy re. yellow cards from a card-happy whistler...…...
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
The Aussies keep giving away yellow cards for high tackles - can see that happening again in a game that will be much closer and with big hits going in

Given that Kerevi carries high and Farrell has a tendency to hit high, that channel has potential for a bit of controversy

FT, as a person that often posts about player welfare what do you think about Biggar playing this Sunday? Has taken 2 heavy head knocks in last 2 games.

May I be so bold?
Good question, especially given Brunel's comments about how under Top14 FroggieRules Dan simply wouldn't have been allowed to play following two heavy head-knocks.
From the Beeb:
The WRU says: "Due to all return-to-play protocols having been met, imaging being normal and ratification from the independent concussion consultant, Biggar has been deemed fit to play.
"The WRU continues to ensure player welfare is at the fore of our decision-making processes and is independent of the any team or competition."
Gatland added: "We made sure in terms of consulting the right people and making sure they were aware of everything, getting him scanned and seeing an independent consultant was important.
"We feel we have gone through the due diligence in making sure we have covered all bases in terms of Dan. We are taking all the proper precautions.
"Dan is desperate to play, we have been conscious in the past with George North who has had a few knocks and other players.
"We just have to make sure if it does happen and he gets some knocks in the next few games or couple of months, there will probably be a different course of action.
"But he is very confident he is 100%."
I do have plenty of confidence in Patchell, but will be watching Biggar very, very nervously on Sunday, to be honest.
I would have saved him for the Final, where we will beat NZ, as I may have mentioned B4.
Fat Taff? Over to you...
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
I read all that David. Personally, I would rather see the decision taken out of Wales hands. From the minute he was removed without HIA against Fiji he should be totally in the care of independent doctors that aren’t connected in anyway to rugby. I just think given the knock and failed HIA v Australia 9 days earlier he should be stood down
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
All return-to-play protocols have been met - therefore we have to trust the WRU.
IF, God forbid, something George North-like were to occur there would be a major backlash occurring...….and WG will know same.

Good point, a tricky one. You look at it as a layman and say he shouldn't be playing. But, in both instances he was removed from the field of play. Given what we've seen in the very recent past, that in itself is progress.
What we as supporters don't see or are party to is the treatment and analysis the top players are getting when they go through these protocols, and without that knowledge, I guess we have to accept what we're being told. We have to believe that coaches and doctors wouldn't put players at risk of brain injuries. Don't we?
I still think that the game is only a few years away from concussion related legal actions.
