Cheika's post match is going to be good. He's going to struggle to find something to blame other than his selection and tactics. Only Scotland try to play more with less of a platform.

Getting the hang of this..

Agree, he's hopeless (not for the first time). But even he could not affect England's superb control and dominance.

Good result..40 points in a QF makes them a threat to anyone.

I thought Australia played better than they have done for a long time. Well done England for soaking up the first 20 mins of pressure.

They relied solely on individuals to make wonder plays, they were tactically naive and tried to play in areas with zero platform.

England were the complete opposite and played a controlled game dictated by 9 and 10.

Given they beat the All Blacks a few months ago I'm not sure how a forty point humping can be judged as their best recent performance

Finally a referee standing up to a TMO. What a clown to think that pass towards the end wasn't forward. All the tools available and still can’t see what’s in front of his face!! Good job it wasn’t important. Hope is nowhere near any remaining rugby match at this WC

Justin Marshall said the TMO was an absolute clown this week on JOE rugby, always feeding information to steer the referee into a decision rather than letting him make his own mind up.

England played well, the difference between the teams was tactical.

The cohesion between the players and execution of the game plan was very good. The game control was Saracen’s esque and methodical, allowing the score to be built.

I thought England might be undercooked, having a relatively a easy pool stage and 2 weeks off. This wasn’t the case, the opening defensive set was great to watch as Australia were playing to their strengths at this point. Nail biting.

I’m sure England will face different challenges in the semi final and possible final. These matches will be played against more tactically astute opponents who will be better prepared for England’s kicking percentage game. Australia let in some soft tries and had defensive weaknesses, these won’t be replicated by England’s opposition in the next round, but England should proceed with confidence.

Also, Jonny May!!! What a boiiii. Very happy for him.
