RWC19 "Stuff"
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Wales aren't about to beat South Africa then one of NZ or England on back to back weekends.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Ah well, I suppose if both England and Wales lose next weekend there is always the 3rd/4th playoff place to get worked up about on 1 Nov 2019 (in the brave post-Brexit World).
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Whilst it looks like a NZ v SA final all it takes is one misplaced tackle and a red card and everything changes. Very open due to the rules in place.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
To be honest whoever does win will have deserved it given the run ins they will have had. Plenty of Eng v Wales form as a guide and also Eng v SA. However only one very even game v NZ since the last WC so very little hard evidence to go on. Wales v Boks has a track record and 4 Wales v NZ games. Plenty of SA v NZ also.
It is high time WR took a lead on these fixtures and ensured the top 8 teams play each other on a more even basis and then still fit in some games against the next top 8.

A couple of bits of news this morning:
I'm sure you've all seen the picture of Jaco Peyper with the Wales fans but you might not know that Serge Simon is now pretty high up in the French Rugby Federation and unsurprisingly he's not very happy about it: http://bit.ly/PeyperPictureRow
And it looks like Jonny May will be fit for the semi-final: http://bit.ly/EnglandInjuriesNZ
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Whichever sides get to the final will have played seven games in six weeks...player welfare, eh? Hopefully the 6N will now be shortened as the principle has been tested - that would allow a week or two of additional rest for the Premiership players.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
Navidi our for the rest of the tournament . Looks like Warren is sending for a backs replacement . Look here you doom sayers I am expecting an England vs Wales final and that is what I will be rooting for. What a prospect

Technically if it is an England vs South Africa final then they will only have played six games each due to cancellations.

I think there is more a chance Harry Seycombe will make a comeback!!
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
In order to find some/ any crumbs to support an Eng win next W/E I had a look at some of the first XV's record. Surprisingly for a man who has 50 - 60 test caps Mako has only ever lost 5 Tests he has started !!! George has lost 4 and Synkler 5. That front row has only lost 2 as a unit. Kruis and Itoje have only lost 2 as a unit and the backrow due to their youth - 0 !!!
The whole backline has only lost 1 as a unit ( if you ignore one wing- Watson for Nowell). The last time the majority of this selection ( almost) was out was the ill fated tour to SA in 2018 and those 2 losses were some of these guys only real losses. So it will be fun to see how a pretty much full strength unit go for once. It will be close but NZ by 5 for me.
