It may be slightly inappropriate but to say "disgraceful" is totally OTT.

It was a ridiculous bit of foul play but fortunately didn't cause physical damage to Wainwright. The game was over and everyone was having a few drinks and a laugh. As mentioned apparently JP did similar shot with some French fans to much amusement of all.

IF rugby referees are going to have to be wrapped in cotton-wool and not allowed to mix with players/supporters post-match and have a chat then we will be entering a very sad place IMHO. And putting referees on a very, very high pedestal indeed...………

The condemnation from SS should be directed at his idiot player NOT the referee !!

God I hate social media !!

Would the Welsh have been rolling around in the aisles had Allan Rolland been photographed pretending to dump tackle a French fan the day after sending off Warburton? Probably not.

It’s only a game and aren’t players, officials etc allowed to have a larf. The only bad taste in my mouth is the idiot Vahaamahina trying to knock Wainwright’s head off with his elbow.
If people take the mick, so what. Move on.

They don’t like it up ‘em.

going back to playing tier 2 nations, how about we have fixtures (maybe even a tournament) for our national second string teams (i.e Saxons, Wolfhounds, Baby Boks etc) against the tier 2 nations in smaller grounds? Would help develop the up and coming players in the tier 1 teams as well as giving the tier 2 teams the match practice they need.

What tier 2 nations ( the better ones) is games against better teams as that is what improves your game. The likes of Spain and lower are fine where they are but Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Japan, Georgia and one or two others need games against tier one more than one or two a year. It will also improve their revenue which then allows them to pay their players enough to stop them becoming mercenaries for tier one teams . The 6N and RC teams are in effect a closed shop keeping the fixtures and revenue to themselves. That is the nub of the problem.

In the vocal minority..

It's not as simple as that though. Take the large number of Fijian players playing in the top 14. The Fijian RFU and/or World Rugby might be able to be become more financially attractive with more exposure/Tier one access etc but they won't be able to compete with the club salaries offered in France.

Players like Vakatawa and Raka earn a lot more in France and after a few years is it a surprise the opt to play for France, and all the associated perks, rather than taking a perceived wage cut to represent Fiji. They have a short career.

The same could also be said on Nathan Hughes, I think he stated he chose to represent England partly because of the financial rewards, Fiji are never going to be in a position to offer a matchday fee approaching 22K !

+1....and give them Saxon internationals that they have a realistic chance of winning at places like Kingsholm, Sandy Park, the Ricoh etc. that would have a reasonable money making attendance

Catch 22 really, if Eddie Jones had to pick a Saxons team he would need to import more foreign players to fill it :?
