1/2d isn’t a bad replacement for him.

Not bad, but past his best now and Williams will be a huge loss

I'm sure he's still got one big game in him...to get Gatland to the final. That's the spirit in the camp at the moment....when the 23 put on that red jersey on Sunday not a single player will be past his best, they had their bad game for the tournament. I've a sneaking feeling about this one.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
I'm always slightly filled with dread when I watch 1/2d playing, he's probably got better since his spate of head injuries but it always looks like he's not got the best tackle technique and leads with his head, normally onto the hip of the attacker.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
No LW will be a massive loss for the Welsh. Always thought that they were up against it in the pack v the Boks but with an inspirational LW now out and JD + other backs nursing previous serious injuries I think the hill has become a mountain. Feel sorry for Gats and AWJ but that's life.
My sneaking suspicion is for England to give the AB's a very good run for their money ………..and possibly to spring a massive surprise on behalf of the NH. Certainly hope so......

Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
I am quite surprised to see the ABs alter their team so significantly in order to play England, I actually think EJ may have got under their skin a bit. They will probably still win but I am slightly more hopeful than I was before.
As for Wales I think the loss of Liam Williams is a massive blow as they look a very different team with 1/2p in there. That said I wasn't sure where Wales were going to attack the boks anyway but now they have lost their counter attacking threat.
Re: RWC19 "Stuff"
It would provide an interesting confrontation if the RFU announced in a months time that as of the 2022 season England would only select players who were contracted to the RFU and that these players would be loaned out to the Prem clubs for no fee in lieu of some of the payments they recieve. Thus by the next WC all Eng players would have to be contracted to the RFU. So in effect a four year transition period whilst the contracts ran their course. If a club wants to get balshy they can have no RFU payments and take no RFU contracted players. Also if a EQP does not wish to represent Eng they can sign up with a club instead.
It would hugely simplify matters and mean Eng could compete on a level playing field with NZ and the others. RFU can then also do a deal with the Lions to release Eng players in plenty of time for training. Whats not to like ![]()
